Welcome to The Durban Association of Miniature Enthusiasts!
We have been around for 40 years. Our members are talented, imaginative, crazy, creative and generous, and we are passionate about promoting the craft of building and collecting Miniatures.
You will find us meeting up on the last Saturday every month (except December), where we inspire each other, eat cake, make tiny little things and make a big mess.
Come and see what we do - you might need to bring a magnifying glass!

ABOUT
Durban Association of Miniature Enthusiasts
DAME originated in 1992 with founder members listed as Jack, Ben,
Robby, Craig, Barry, Johan, Glynn or Tom.
together they build our Durban
Association of Miniature Enthusiasts.
The inaugural meeting of the Durban Association of Miniature Enthusiasts was first
held at Linda’s home on August 28th, 1992, and was attended by 11 members. It
was decided to keep in touch with a monthly newsletter and to meet monthly to hold craft workshops.
The First venue was located in Morningside,
Then began our nomadic wandering through the suburbs of Greater Durban.
From Morningside, across to Umbilo area and met in the Long-mead
Boy Scout Hall. The new craft village in Pinetown opened and our hobbyists moved there.
Visitors to the village could wander in and out and observe us hard at work sanding and sawing.
We eventually where accommodated at Berea Primary School.
At this stage we had approximately 35 active members and workshops are
usually well attended. The range of roof and wall treatments was astonishing and when
we exhibited them as a village at the October 1993 fair, there were no two alike.
Our members had Saturday afternoon workshops, longer full day
workshops have also been arranged at member’s home, e.g., a flower
workshop and a doll workshop.
While this has played havoc with our attendance figures it has brought a
welcome flavor to DAME as the share experiences and new ideas with us.
Today 2024 we have a team of around 35 members still enjoying our time in
our own small way together creating magic
